EUROPEAN STUDY GROUP with INDUSTRY

TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF DENMARK

See You in 2025

Information

ESGI (European Study Group with Industry) is Europe's leading workshop bringing together mathematicians and industrial companies. These week-long workshops have been held annually since 1968 and were previously known as the Oxford Study Groups with Industry, where they attracted leading mathematicians to work on industrial problems. In Denmark these workshops are at DTU.

Companies submit mathematical problems for the study group to solve; often in the form of a modelling problem or an optimization problem. Participants work in groups around each problem, presenting the results of their efforts to industry at the end of the week. A written report on each problem is later written and given to the companies.

Important facts

Participating companies pay a fee for having a problem treated at the workshop.

There is no participation fee for academics and Ph.D. students.

Registration is done by email to the organisers.

PhD Course

Ph.D. students can get ECTS credit (2.5 ECTS) for participation in the study group and active engagement in report delivery. Most reports are subsequently pubilshed through the Cambridge University Press repository MIIR (Math In Industry Reports).
